TOP SPRINTER, MR. NIGHTLINGER (TB) TO JEH OKLAHOMA DIVISION
Owned and raced by Martin Racing Stable, LLC and Carl Moore Management LLC, the bay son of Indian Charlie, won or placed in 18 of 25 starts to 5, 2009. A multiple grade 3 stakes winner of $644,355, he set a new track record at Arlington Park in the $200,000 Arlington Turf Sprint Handicap(G3) , a "win and you're in" Breeders' Cup race while covering 5 ½ furlongs in 1:01.89. Mr. Nightlinger won the Aegon Turf Sprint Stakes(G3) at Churchill Downs and the Shakertown Turf Sprint(G3) at Keeneland Race Course. He recorded five consecutive 100+ Beyer Speed Figures including a 107 in the Taylor Special Stakes at Arlington Park. In the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint he ran the opening ¼ in :20.73 and was ahead at the quarter pole in 22 of his 25 starts. His other stakes victories included the Jim McKay Turf Sprint Stakes and Taylor Special Stakes. He was second in the Woodford (G3), an allowance winner going a mile and was third in the Lone Star Derby(G3) at 1-1/16 and the Pomona Derby at 1-1/8.
His sire, Indian Charlie, is a grade I stakes winner of the Santa Anita Derby while earning $616,120. Indian Charlie is the sire of three champions, 38 stakes winner with earnings of $30.4 million including Indian Blessing (champion-twice, $2,995,420 to 4, 2009). Mr. Nightlinger is out of the Time For A Change mare, Timely Quarrel, who has produced six winners from seven starters. She is also the dam of stakes-placed Prosico ($170,7850) and Lovers Spat ($91,444). The second dam is stakes-placed and stakes producer Quarrel Over, a half-sister to grade I winner Lets Don’t Fight ($404,588), and stakes winners Fuzzy ($447,370), Fight Over ($257,778) and Wise Counsellor.
