FEARLES FRED, UNO CORONA 1-2 IN BUDWEISER FUTURITY(G3)
MT. PLEASANT, MI — SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 — Walter "Dick" Harrison's Fearles Fred was a runaway winner in the $38,360 Mt. Pleasant Budweiser Futurity on Sunday night.
The son of first crop sire FREDRICKSBURG picked up fourth win seven starts while earning $17,262.
Saddled by Carol Rettele and ridden by Richard Rettele he completed the 400 yards in :20.446 seconds to win by 1¼ lengths. The bay gelding came into the race off a two-length trial win.
Fastest qualifier Uno Corona finished second for owner Ignacio Soto. Bred in Texas by James E. Helzer, the CORONA FOR ME filly picked up $7,672 for her effort.
Rolando Almanza trains the brown miss with Oscar Delgado getting the riding call.
A neck back in third was Which Wich 501, owned by Christine Tavares. Bred in Texas by George Temple, the bay gelding was saddled by Anthony Cunningham and ridden by Natasha Fritz. He earned, $5,754.
Completing the field were Fishin For A Lady, Later Version, Alley Rose 123, Playin Favorites, Eight Below 123 and Go Little Val. Snaptooit was scratched by order of the stewards.
