RUNNNING BROOK GAL SHOOTS TO TOP OF WEEKLY TOP-10 POLL THE AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE RACING JOURNAL — SEPTEMBER 9, 2009 – All American Futurity winner Runnning Brook Gal shot to the top of the latest AQHA Racing-HorseplayerPRO.com for 2-year-olds, unseating LD Fire for the first time this season atop the divisional rankings.
Runnning Brook Gal, who last week was ranked No. 9, propelled herself to the top ranking with a 1½-length demolition at Ruidoso Downs. The daughter of BROOKSTONE BAY also was second in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity final earlier this summer. All American Futurity runner-up Shesa First Ratify ascended to a No. 5 place tie in this week’s rankings, while third-place finisher First Corona Call landed in a No. 9 place tie. Trainer Paul Jones enjoyed a Ruidoso sweep on All American weekend, not only saddling Futurity champ Runnning Brook Gal but also the Derby’s 1-2-3 finishers, headed by Inseperable. The Derby runner-up, Fantastic Corona Jr., moved up into a No. 6 place tie in this week’s poll of 3-year-olds and older. The older horse rankings go under the microscope Friday night when the $100,000 Go Man Go Handicap at Los Alamitos matches two of the nation’s top-rated horses, No. 3 Separate Bet and No. 5 Jess You And I, among a field of eight.
