TRES SEIS, ILLEGAL RUNAWAY OFFSPRING RUN 1-2 IN SAM HOUSTON CLASSIC(G2)

HOUSTON, TX — AUGUST 23, 2009 — JEH Stallions sired the 1-2 finishers on Saturday at Sam Houston Race Park in the Grade 2 $50,000 Sam Houston Classic.

Diamond Tres Seis (5-1) ran a commanding race from start to finish, winning in a time of 21.453 with a top-notch speed index of 102. The 5-year-old was ridden by jockey Gilbert Ortiz and owned by Mercy and Ray Hinklin.

"This horse is a stakes-only contender," commented trainer Heath Taylor. "And he’s done really well in the past, but I think he’s coming into his own and more confident from start to finish."

Bred by Double Bar S Ranch, LLC, the TRES SEIS gelding pushed his career earnings to nearly $290,000 with the $30,000 winner's check.

Grade 1 winner Illegal Memories finished a ½ length off the winner for owner Tim Lange and Charlie Forbes. The 4-year-old ILLEGAL RUNAWAY gelding was also saddled by Taylor and ridden by champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr. He earned $10,000.

Completing the field were Royce Rogers, Mr Jess Perrier, Miss Kips Streakin, Zoomin Winner, Streakin Illusively, It's A Black Oak, Mr Perry Dash and Hydrostatic.
