JESS FOR TH MEMORIES LEADS CONTENTION OF JEH STALLIONS IN SAM HOUSTON MAIDEN CHALLENGE TRIALS
The 3-year-old FEATURE MR JESS colt broke sharp and cruised home a two-length winner in the third of six trials to the event for 3-year-olds and up, who were maidens as of the April 15th entry date. The ten qualifiers will return on June 19th to contest the 350 yard $18,000-added final. Saddled by Heath Taylor and ridden by Gaspar Garcia, Jess For Th Memories stopped the clock in :17.691 seconds to earn a career high speed index of 98. After two off-the-board outings last season, the sorrel colt finished second in his first start this season at Delta on May 14th. Mel Karr Farms, Inc. bred the colt out of the LEAVING MEMORIES mare Memories So Fine. Tearful, a 3-year-old TRES SEIS filly racing for Tearful Racing, LP posted the sixth fastest clocking. Bred by Joe Kirk Fulton, the filly is trained by Tooter Jordan and was ridden by Jose Alvarez. The final qualifying spot went to Madam Corona, a 3-year-old CORONA FOR ME filly owned by Bielau Oaks. Judd Kearl saddled the filly bred by A.B. and Wanda Harvey. Rodrigo Vallejo was in the irons.
