CHAMPION FREDRICKSBURG GETS FIRST STAKES WINNER

HONDO, NM — JUNE 7, 2009 — American Quarter Racing's Champion Aged Stallion of 2005, FREDRICKSBURG, got his first stakes winner when Denis and Julie Schoenhofer’s First Klas Fred won the Grade 1, $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity on Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The grade 1 winning son of Mr Jess Perry has sired seven winners in his first crop to race, with earnings of $374,970. The win by First Klas Fred pushed the deceased stallion into the #1 ranking this week for first crop sires of 2009.

On the track, FREDRICKSBURG won or placed in 19 of 22 starts to 4, while earning $369,304. He won the Championship at Sunland Park(G1), Refrigerator Handicap(G1) Bayer Legend East Challenge(G3) and Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap(G3).

He also placed in the Firecracker Derby(G2), Harrah's Entertainment Derby, TQHA Classic Stakes(G3), B.F. Phillips, Jr. Handicap(G3) and was a finalist in the Texas Classic Derby(G1). The royally bred colt was out of a grade 1 winning daughter of Dash For Cash, Fearless Freda, who was a three-quarter sister to two-time Champion Deelish. His second dam was the grade 1 winning Special Effort mare, Such An Easy Effort.

Following his first season at stud FREDRICKSBURG was lost in a tragic barn fire at JEH Stallion Station's New Mexico Division.
