JEH STALLIONS DOMINATE GRADE 1 $500,000 RUIDOSO FUTURITY TRIALS

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—MAY 22, 2009—JEH Stallion's dominated 16 trials to the Grade 1, $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity, qualifying four head, including setting the two top times on Friday at Ruidoso Downs.

The horses with the 10-fastest times from the trials became eligible to race in the finals on June 7. The winner’s share of the Ruidoso Futurity is $250,000.

ArtAlbert and Chad Richard’s home-bred Running Brook Gal made an auspicious career debut when she won the 17th and final trial to by 1 ½ lengths.

Trained by seven-time national training champion Paul Jones, Running Brook Gal raced the 350 yards over a sloppy track in :17.638 with Kenny Muntz in the saddle. She is a homebred by first crop sire BROOKSTONE BAY.

First Klas Fred raced to the second-fastest time when he won the 15th division with a :17.691 clocking. The son of first crop sires FREDRICKSBURG ran strongly on the outside of the track to defeat Swingin Daddyo by a half length.

Trained by Mike Joiner for owners Denis and Julie Schoenhofer, First Klas Fred won his maiden with the trial win. He was highly regarded after finishing fifth in the Grade 1, $300,000 West Texas Futurity in his prior start.

Schoenhofer's purchased the gelding bred by Jim & Marilyn Helzer for $20,000 at the Eclipse Select Yearling Sale on August 8 at Lone Star Park.

ArtDebra Gotovac's Eyes For My Corona won the fifth trial in :17.804 seconds to post the eighth fastest time. The gelded son of second crop sire CORONA FOR ME came into the race off a trial win to the Remington Park Futurity on April 4.

Saddled by Bradley Bolen he was ridden by Cody Wainscott. Bred in Texas by Blanca Julia Corella, the sorrel gelding was sold for $10,000 at the Eclipse Select Yearling Sale on August 8.

The top money earner in the field, Gbh Steppin Johnny scored the biggest trial victory in 11th race when he won by 2 ¼ lengths in :17.809 seconds. The SOUTHERN CARTEL colt owned by G.W. Hartstack and B and B Electric was picking up his fourth straight victory.

The restricted grade 1 winner of nearly $165,000 won the New Mexico Spring Futurity(RG1) on April 12 at Sunland Park. Jackie Riddle trained the gelding bred by Gary and Bonnie Harstack. Joe Martinez was riding for the first time.
