STYLISH JESS BR SECOND FASTEST IN GOLDEN STATE DERBY HEATS
LOS ALAMIOTS, CA—AUGUST 17, 2008—Benny Rosset's Stylish Jess Br finished a neck off Los Alamitos 2 Million winner One Famous Eagle to post the second fastest qualifying time to the $313,900 Golden State Derby on Saturday at Los Alamitos.
Stylish Jess Br will be among the headliners to the Golden State final to be held on August 30. He'll have to face many of the same horses that he defeated on Saturday, as the four fastest qualifiers came out of his trial.
The brown filly covered the distance in the second fastest time of :19.37 and was followed across the wire by 2007 Governor's Cup Futurity winner Magic Show Czech and restricted grade 1 stakes placed contender My Buddie, who qualified with the third and fourth fastest times.
Trained by Paul Jones and ridden by Cody Jensen, Stylish Jess Br delivered another consistent performance. The FEATURE MR JESS filly has raced eight times in her career and she's never been worse than third. Bred by James Burgess, MD, Stylish Jess Br won the Ed Burke Memorial Juvenile last year and was third in the Golden State Million Futurity. She is out of Stylish Secret by Dash for Cash.
Making her first start since a third place finish in the Los Alamitos 2 Million trials on November 23, 2007, Stylish Jess Br has earned nearly $170,000.
