JEH Stallions Dominate New Mexico Spring Futurity (RG1)

SUNLAND PARK, NM - MARCH 28, 2008 - Match This Miracle stormed to a 3-length trial win on Friday and set the fastest qualifying time for the $342,537 New Mexican Spring Futurity at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. The restricted grade 1 300 yard futurity is for 2-year-olds bred in New Mexico.

J.J. Gonzales hand rode the DEAN MIRACLE filly to the runaway victory in the race. Trained by Ralph Muniz, Match This Miracle is owned by G. Dwayne Pruitt and earned a 100 speed index for running the 300 yards in :15.004.

Bp Shes Southern, a full-sister to 2007 Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Southern Takes All, owned and bred by Bill Price won the ninth trial by 1-3/4 lengths to post the second fastest time. The SOUTHERN CARTEL filly was saddled by Fred Danley. Out of a THIS SNOW IS ROYAL mare, Bp Shes Southern was clocked in :15.040.

The fastest two qualifiers faced off in a March 7 maiden race at Sunland Park where Match This Miracle prevailed over Bp Shes Southern by one-half length.

Makeminecaine, a colt by first year sire THE DOWN SIDE owned and bred Dr. James G. Burgess, won the final trial and posted the sixth fastest clocking from 114 starters.

A DEAN MIRACLE gelding owned and bred by Ray Willis finished second by a neck following a bumpy start in the second trial. Dusty Cabin's :15.186 clocking was the eighth best time of the day.

Finals for the $342,537 New Mexican Spring Futurity will be held on Sunday, April 13. The winner’s share is worth nearly $160,993.
