TRES SEIS Sired Qualifiers
In trial races for the $50,000-added Grade 1 Longhorn Futurity at Manor Downs, TRES SEIS-sired Baja Jazz,a filly out of the First Down Dash mare, Only The Wicked, was the fastest of all qualifiers. Racing for Juan A. Medina, bred by Ann and Brad Tate in Oklahoma, the filly covered 300 yards in :15.656 seconds winning the 11th of 12 trials. Baja Jazz pulled the fastest three qualifiers into the finals.
Trained by Terry Lure, she was piloted by Jesse Vega and earned a 94 speed index in her first asking. TRES SEIS' second qualifier came from the third trial when Red Light Runner finished a neck off the winner of that trial. His time was good enough seventh best time from 118 starters. Racing for Rogelio Rangel, Red Light Runner was also bred in Oklahoma by Dean Sparks out of the Dashin Easy mare Boppem Easy. Joe Rangel handled training duties with Carlos Castro on board for his first asking. The ten finalists will run on March 15th.
At Louisiana Downs, Sr Superstar, a colt by TRES SEIS, qualified as a finalist to the $200,000-added Harrah's Entertainment Futurity(G2) to be run on March 18. Sr Superstar, out of the Strawfly Special mare Splash Dot Dash, finished second in the final trial to fastest qualifier Silly Chix to record the sixth fastest time. Racing for Jose Espinoza, Sr Superstar was bred in Oklahoma by Jovetta Meredith and is trained by Alonzo Loya.
